The Chartered Institute of Fundraising (CIoF) is taking over the management of the UK’s #Giving Tuesday campaign from the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).
The global event launched a decade ago and has been run in the UK by CAF for the last seven years.
"I am thrilled to share the exciting news with you that the Chartered Institute of Fundraising will now be running the #GivingTuesday campaign here in the UK,” said CIoF chief executive Katie Docherty.
She praised CAF’s management of the campaign which has become “a key day in the annual fundraising calendar”.
“Over the last seven years the Charities Aid Foundation has run the campaign in the UK, and they have done a fantastic job making #GivingTuesday a key day in the annual fundraising calendar,” added Docherty.
“In 2020 over £20m was raised for good causes in the UK on #GivingTuesday, with over 360 million impressions on Twitter, and support from celebrities such as Stephen Fry and the Duchess of Cornwall.
“Almost 4,000 partners are now signed up to support and promote the campaign.”
CAF said CIOF will “do an amazing job” in promoting the event, which takes place on November 29 this year.
After 7 years of running @GivingTuesdayUK, it's time to pass the baton over to @CIOFtweets! We know they'll do an amazing job and we look forward to celebrating #GivingTuesday on the 29th of November! 🎉 https://t.co/1aToCfc8TK

Alison Taylor, chief executive of CAF’s charity services and CAF Bank, added: “CAF will continue to be an enthusiastic supporter of the global day of giving and we’re excited for the plans that the CIoF have in store.
“The strength of #GivingTuesday comes from the grassroots charity campaigners all over the UK, who will be perfectly represented by the team at CIoF.
“It continues to inspire us that a campaign which began on social media now inspires millions of people across the world to come together to celebrate the charities and communities that mean so much to us all."
